Recorder capabilities
Recorder capabilities can be combined for a lightweight capture or a fully prepared product presentation.
Display, window, and region capture
Record an entire display, a specific application window, or a normalized region of a selected screen. You can reopen the region selector to adjust a saved crop before recording.
Microphone and system audio
Microphone and system audio are captured independently when both are available. Separate tracks let the editor change their enabled state and volume individually.
Webcam overlay
A selected camera opens a separate overlay that can be positioned for the presentation. Camera access depends on operating-system permission and device availability.
Teleprompter
Write a script, switch between continuous and line-by-line reading, and adjust autoscroll, speed, text size, line spacing, alignment, and theme. Global shortcuts can show the teleprompter, pause autoscroll, or move between lines.

- Pause and resume the active recording.
- Toggle microphone, camera, and system audio when the active session supports them.
- Stop and finalize the recording, or cancel and delete the active capture.
Interaction metadata and privacy
With explicit permission, Beam records safe keyboard shortcut tokens. Linux interaction access can also enable mouse click metadata. Typed text is never stored.
Permission required
Interaction recording is optional and can be enabled or disabled in Preferences. Availability depends on the operating system.
