Updating Beam

Installed Beam builds can check GitHub Releases for a new version without automatically downloading or installing it.

Open the update controls

From the recorder HUD, open Settings and find the Updates section. The same controls are available from Settings in the video editor. Development builds report that updates are only available in the installed app.

The update panel displays the installed version and the available update actions.

Install an update

1. Choose Check for updates.
2. When a version is available, review its changelog and choose Download.
3. Keep Beam open while the progress indicator downloads the update.
4. When the update is ready, save your work and choose Restart to close Beam and run the installer.

Updates remain under your control

Beam does not automatically download an available update and does not install it when you quit normally. Installation begins only after you choose Restart from the downloaded state.

If the updater fails

Use Copy error to keep the diagnostic message, then download the correct package manually from the latest Beam release. Your projects are stored separately from the application installation.
