Video editor capabilities
Beam combines precise timeline operations with presentation controls designed for product demos.
Timeline editing
- Move and reorder supported visual clips.
- Trim clip boundaries and split at the playhead.
- Enable snapping for precise alignment.
- Zoom the timeline without changing the output.
- Enable, disable, unlink, or delete supported composition items.
Imported media
Add supported video, image, and audio files from the timeline Add menu or by dropping local media into the editor. Imported items are inserted at the playhead after validation.
Codec support
Media import and playback depend on the codecs available to Beam. Unsupported or invalid files are rejected with a reason.
Canvas and clip appearance
- Choose image, video, color, or gradient backgrounds and import custom background media.
- Adjust background blur and the output canvas presentation.
- Position, resize, crop, and mirror supported visual clips.
- Apply corner radius, solid or adaptive shadows, borders, and window-style frames.
- Adjust playback speed for supported clips.
Zooms and cursor presentation
Generate automatic zoom blocks from recorded click events or add manual focus points. Auto mode follows the recorded cursor while a zoom is active. Each zoom block controls timing, focus mode, position, and magnification. Cursor controls change style, size, color, shadow, click bounce, left and right ripple effects, smoothing, spring mass, and motion blur.

Generate speech-to-text subtitles locally with Whisper from microphone or system audio. Download and verify a supported model, generate captions, then edit the resulting caption clips and visual style. Keyboard shortcut captions use safe interaction metadata recorded with permission.
Local transcription
Whisper transcription runs on the device. It does not require a cloud upload or an API key.
Audio and blur
Control global output volume and the enabled state or level of system and microphone tracks. Add blur clips to obscure or soften part of the composition with shape, strength, feather, corner radius, tint, and color controls.
Export
Render the current composition to MP4 or WebM with resolution and quality controls. See export and sharing for the complete workflow.
