Recorder interface

The HUD is organized around capture setup. Once recording starts, the compact Recording Bar exposes only the controls that remain useful during the session.

Top bar

Control	Action
Preferences	Opens Recording, General, Shortcuts, About, and update settings.
Minimize	Minimizes the Recorder window.
Close	Closes the Recorder window.

Capture setup

Control	Action	Availability
Screen / Window	Changes the capture mode.	Before recording.
Source selector	Chooses a display or application window.	The Linux portal provides its own picker.
Select an area	Opens the custom region overlay.	Screen mode only; unavailable on Linux.
System audio	Turns computer-output capture on or off.	Platform support differs.
Microphone	Chooses an input device or No Audio.	Before recording; toggleable during supported phases.
Camera	Chooses a camera or Camera Off.	Before recording; toggleable during supported phases.
Teleprompter	Opens or hides the script window.	Before and during recording.
Start Recording	Starts the configured countdown and capture.	When setup is ready and Beam is not busy.

Project action

Open an existing project opens the Project Manager instead of starting a new capture. From there, projects can be searched, created, opened, renamed, revealed, refreshed, selected in batches, or deleted.

Recording Bar

The floating bar replaces the setup HUD during capture. It shows Ready or Preparing states and then exposes the controls permitted by the current recording phase.

Control	Action	Important constraint
Move recording bar	Drags the bar to another position.	The visibility preference still applies.
Pause / Resume	Pauses or resumes the session.	Disabled during countdown, startup, and finalization.
Stop	Finalizes the recording and keeps the session.	Disabled while finalizing.
Cancel and delete	Cancels the recording and removes the unfinished session.	Disabled while finalizing.
Microphone / Camera	Turns the selected source on or off.	Disabled during countdown, startup, and finalization.
System audio	Turns system audio on or off where supported.	Cannot be changed after start on Linux.
