Windows
Install Beam, enable your camera and microphone, and capture a display, window or region.
Install and open Beam
Download and run the Windows installer from Beam’s download page. If Windows displays a download-reputation warning, verify the source and filename before continuing.
For an unrecognized-app warning, SmartScreen may offer More info → Run anyway. On a managed computer, follow your organization’s installation policy if this option is unavailable.
Allow your camera and microphone
Open the Camera and Microphone privacy pages in Windows Settings. They are under Privacy & security on Windows 11 and Privacy on Windows 10. Allow device access and access for desktop apps for the sources you need.
Select the device in Beam and test a short take. If preparation fails, check the displayed error, privacy settings and whether the device is connected or already in use.
Screen, window and region capture
Choose a display or application in Beam’s searchable source picker. Full screen captures the whole display; Window captures one app; Region lets you draw an area and check its pixel dimensions.
Recording settings include hiding desktop icons and the taskbar, plus recording the real system cursor. Beam can also remember camera and teleprompter sizes and positions.
Paste an Instant video file
Instant uses Windows PowerShell to place the exported file on the native file-drop clipboard. Paste it into an app that accepts attachments. Screenshot Copy instead places PNG image pixels on the clipboard.
If PowerShell or clipboard access is restricted, copying can fail after a successful export. The video remains in the Instant project’s exports folder; use the saved file directly or retry Copy after resolving the restriction.
Find your projects
The default folder follows Windows’ Videos location, including any system redirection. Project location and Export folder are configurable in Settings → General. Choose Explore in a project’s menu to find its actual folder. Instant keeps automatic exports beside its source project.
